Shipping Update, App in Beta, and Free Play Mode!

Hello, spacers! Put on your safety goggles because we’re about to throw a whole lot of info at you!
Shipping Update
U.S. orders are still being fulfilled! We were hoping to have them in the mail at the end of this week, but a delay in delivery from our distributor means it’ll more likely be completed early next week. Hopefully holiday shipping will not be terrible and all orders will arrive before the holidays.
Our international distributors have received all backer information for their shipping regions. Unfortunately it looks as though it will take them several weeks to start sending these out. We’re disappointed that they more than likely won’t arrive in time for the holiday season, but they should be showing up in mailboxes early next year.
Wandering Galaxy App is in Beta
The app is not 100% yet, but the first campaign is now playable in Beta. What does that mean? Campaign 1 is now fully playable, with all the text right there in the app! There are gaps in the audio, meaning some entries have yet to have their audio added, so playing the game will require some reading on players’ part for the time being.
Campaigns 2 and 3 are almost ready to join the app, and we will let you know when they are available.
Audio is still being recorded, edited, and uploaded. We’ll provide updates there once we think we have a good estimate.
Given Wandering Galaxy’s sandbox nature, we had discussed the possibility of a Free Play Mode. Initially we weren’t going to, given just how repayable the campaigns are, but we recently got to talking about how we wanted to provide a thank you to our backers who helped make this game happen.
What does Free Play Mode do? Free Play let’s you play one-off sessions of Wandering Galaxy. You’ll make your characters as normal, get a couple random jobs, then start your game in a random location on the map. Like any normal session, you’ll need to acquire 7 Profit while avoiding losing the game due to Threat.
This is a fantastic way to jump into a game with friends and family, especially those who want to play, but might not want to, or be able to, stick around for all four sessions of a campaign. And because of the scope of this game, it’s going let you explore all the nooks and crannies you might have missed in your other play-throughs. We hope you give it a try, have fun with it, and agree it adds a ton of value to an already big package.
Wandering Galaxy entry books have not been produced yet and will be shipping out to backers in January at no additional shipping cost! We’ve received a lot of messages about backers missing these in their orders and just wanted to give everyone a quick reminder that they’ll be in a different shipment at a later date.
Our buddy JC is here to show you how to teach Wandering Galaxy to your group of friends. Not only did he create a fun and informative video, but he also made a handy dandy pdf that you can print off to put in your game box for future reference. Check it out!
The Game is Shipping!

Greetings, spacers! Right now the Plaid Hat Games warehouse is alive with the sounds of boxes being packed, shipping labels being printed, and our owner Colby wielding his cattle prod to keep the warehouse gnomes in line. Yes, we're delighted to say the games will begin lifting off from us today, and making their way to your homes. Those of us not in the warehouse are busy with the app, sanding down rough edges, making sure all the dots are connected, or recording new audio for it. It did come to our attention over this weekend, that somewhere in Europe, our street date for the retail release of Wandering Galaxy was not honored. Street dates are important for ensuring the game is ready for retail, as well as ensuring our Kickstarter backers deservedly get their copies first. At this point, we aren't sure how widespread the problem is (we've only seen one instance so far). We apologize for this possible early release and are looking into it. We will keep you up-to-date as we go, letting you know how shipping proceeds, the state of the app and books, and if we get any news on the retail situation. The game is almost in your hands! We cannot wait for you to get it, start playing, and experience this enormous, wild, open-world adventure we've crafted for you. This has been a labor of love taking several years to complete, and we look forward to hearing about your adventures in space!
Orders Start Shipping Next Week

Greetings Backers!
This is your reminder that shipping and add-ons will be charged Sunday December 1st, and we’re planning on shipping those orders out ASAP next week! Wandering Galaxy isn’t quite ready to play yet, but we wanted to ensure people have their orders in time to get gifts wrapped and under trees.
All entries have been written and entered into the companion app, but we’re still working on getting the rest of the VO recorded and edited, and most importantly, finishing up our auditing on the jobs your spacers can undertake. The way these storylines interconnect is like a giant spiderweb and we need to make sure that all threads are intact to offer the best gaming experiences. But rest assured, the game will be ready to play in time for the holidays!
If you ordered a Wandering Galaxy Entry Book those will be shipped out at a later date at the beginning of the year, at NO additional shipping costs. The Forgotten Waters and Freelancers Entry Books are ready to go and will ship out with Wandering Galaxy copies.

Backerkit Surveys Lock This Friday

Hello Backers!
Looky, looky what just arrived at our warehouse this week!
That’s right! Wandering Galaxy copies are now sitting pretty in our Ohio studio, but since this is an epic adventure game they are not ready to ship out quite yet. Our team is still tying all the final pieces together in regards to the storylines, recording/editing audio, and companion app. Turns out having such an open gaming world means a lot of additional work making sure all elements link together, and we want to make sure that we deliver the best scifi board game known to mankind!
We also received an early copy of the Freelancers: A Crossroads Game Entry Book hot off the presses and it’s looking great!
Entry books are available to add-on for Wandering Galaxy, Forgotten Waters and Freelancers via your Backerkit survey! So if you’re itching for a way to play app-free this is the book for you!
We have concluded that the Wandering Galaxy entry book will need to ship out after backers receive their base game and other add-ons. The writing for the campaigns is still ongoing and we won’t be able to prep the book and check the quality in time for the main shipment. But don’t worry! It will not cost the backers any additional shipping charges. And players will still be able to play Wandering Galaxy via the app while awaiting the arrival of their entry books.
Estimated Delivery Timeline
Backerkit surveys lock this Friday, November 15th! Which means that all Backerkit surveys need to be completed by then. If you haven’t received your survey please let us know! These surveys are very important because they collect shipping addresses which allow us to get Wandering Galaxy out to y’all in a timely manner. AND these surveys let you add-on any additional games from us that you’d like for a low shipping cost. So pretty please make sure you get those filled out by Friday.
Although surveys lock on Friday we won’t be collecting payment for shipping and add-ons until December 1st. And then we’ll start the fulfillment process. Which means you should be flying through the Wandering Galaxy by the end of the year!
Still On Track For December Release!

Hello Spacers!
This past month has been busy, busy with our writing team building out fun and exciting adventures for players to experience throughout the three Wandering Galaxy campaigns. This is the biggest challenge we are facing for delivery times since there is a LOT of writing that goes on for such a big sandbox experience.
Our web developer and graphic designer have been working in tandem to put the final touches on the companion app, plus our multimedia director has been recording finalized lines with the game’s narrator - Elizabeth Maxwell! Here is a tasty clip of what they’ve been working on:
Production copies of Wandering Galaxy have hit the States and will be arriving at our warehouse by the end of the month! Right now our goal is to ship copies out to backers at the end of November. We will keep y’all updated if the release date gets pushed back for any reason.
REMINDER! All Backerkit Surveys are due by November 15th! We will be charging credit cards on file for shipping and any add-ons purchased through the pledge manager at that time. So please, please get your survey filled out as soon as you can! Another reminder – if you did not give your shipping address to Kickstarter during the campaign, then Backerkit is going to show the wrong amount for shipping when you first log into the survey. Once you enter your shipping address into Backerkit, your cart will reflect the correct shipping cost! We had quite a few backers swing by our Essen booth a few weeks ago to say hello and demo the special convention campaign! Game designer Jerry Hawthorne was there himself showing off Wandering Galaxy, drinking that tasty, dark German beer and having a good time at the show! Thanks to everyone who stopped by!
